Marine transportation is a growing market, over the last decades, the vessel fleet and transcontinental trade have constantly been increasing and are expected to continue to increase over the next decade. With growth also come waste products and disposals and it’s important to have a proper and eco friendly disposals plan for when your ship and or fleet need disposal services.
Marpol is the international convention covering prevention of pollution of the marine environment by ships from operational and accidental.
Panama Ship Services offers a cost-effective, reliable, comprehensive service for all the collection and proper handling of marine disposals generated by all ships calling port at the Panama Canal in accordance with Marpol. We are committed to provide marine disposals services with the most safely and environmentally friendly methods as possible at the Panama Canal.

SHIP GARBAGE DISPOSAL
Revised MARPOL Annex V sets new regulatory requirements regarding the disposal of garbage from ships and it came into force at the beginning of this year. The new amendments prohibit the disposal of almost all kinds of garbage at sea with the exemption under specific requirements of food waste, cargo residues contained in wash water and environmental friendly cleaning agents. As a result of these regulations more and more ships are disposing their ship-generated waste to reception facilities ashore.

FUMIGATION AND CERTIFICATES
Fumigation and certificates play an important role when it comes to the shipping industry. In order to prevent any pest on board, bring infected cargo to another port or even put at risk your own crew, inspections should be carried out periodically and in some cases, fumigations should be performed.
At Panama Ship Service we provide everything you need to keep your good vessel healthy and with all the sanitation papers in good order so you don’t have to worry about ports denying your ship’s entrance or transit.
There are many types of fumigations that will depend on each ship’s condition. Just to name a few, you can have a fumigation service to prevent mosquitoes, the Asian Gypsy Moth (AGM), etc.
